Spring Awakening

According to the Chinese lunar calendar, spring begins on February 4th. Even if winter still lingers, the Earth is already waking up. Life stirs beneath the surface, energy rises, and growth pushes forward with an unstoppable force. This is the season when the world turns green again.
Spring is associated with the Wood element, symbolizing expansion, creativity, and new beginnings. It governs the liver and gallbladder, the organs responsible for vision and decision-making. The liver inspires creativity and flow, while the gallbladder gives us courage to act.
Spring’s correspondences include the color green, the direction east, the taste sour, and the emotion anger, a signal of blocked movement that, when released, becomes motivation and change. The season also rules the sinews and tendons, the eyes, and the sound of shouting, all expressions of upward, outward energy.
The spirit of spring is the Hun, the ethereal soul that holds our dreams, vision, and destiny. Dwelling in the liver by day, the Hun wanders at night, rising to the eyes as we sleep, allowing us to see our dreams. In this quiet journey, it carries messages from the unseen, revealing our deeper purpose and the path seeking to unfold. As nature renews itself, we are invited to listen inward, to stretch toward the light, and to grow in harmony with our soul’s becoming.
